In this essay, I explore why conspiracies about HIV/AIDS, even though disproven, continue to thrive. I investigate how both historical examples and modern psychology research drive belief in these dangerous myths, particularly within Black and 2SLGBTQ+ communities. Through a mix of research and analysis, I aim to highlight the real-world damage misinformation causes, especially in the fight to promote life-saving treatments, like PrEP.
